-A Dorchester man charged in Marathon County Court for killing eight three-day old puppies with a sledgehammer appeared in court on Tuesday for a motion hearing.According to investigators, the incident happened on August 9th in the Town of Holton. The puppies were the offspring of 68-year-old Terrence Seubert's Blue Heeler. Seubert said he distracted the dog with food, put the puppies in a bucket and dropped the sledgehammer on them. He also said he placed them in a bucket of water for 20 minutes before burying them.
One of the motions discussed was a modification to his bond allowing him to have contact with livestock as one of the conditions of his bond was no contact with any domesticated animals. Seubert's job has him in contact with livestock on a daily basis. The state did agree to that request allowing him to have contact with livestock as it relates to his job. The defense also said they filed a motion to dismiss, but they did that on Monday and requested another hearing for the motion next month.
Seubert has 8 felony charges filed against him and he's free on a $1,500 signature bond. If convicted of the maximum amount in this case, he could spend 28 years in prison.
