Neillsville City Council Grants Kennel License
Wednesday, October 15th, 2014 -- 11:04 AM
-The Neillsville City Council granted a kennel license, after a lengthy debate, to a resident living at 403 East 2nd Street in the city.Deborah Lomnes currently owns two dogs and she's taking care of her daughter's dog while she's away at school. Miss Lomnes also occasionally takes in "foster dogs" for the various rescues she supports. She recently took in another dog under that scenario, giving her four dogs, and that's why she requested the license.
Neillsville's ordinance states that people living in town can only have 3 dogs. Miss Lomnes did state that her having four dogs is only temporary, but she wanted to be in line with the city's rules. She knows her daughter will be able to take back her dog when she finds an apartment in La Crosse, that allows dogs, in late spring/early summer of next year. She's also trying to find a home for the "foster dog" she recently took in.
Neillsville Police Chief Scott Klueckmann said that she's done everything right, including informing her neighbors and having the dogs licensed. The council was leery about granting the license as there is no limit on the number of dogs when it comes to a kennel license and they've had issues in the past.
In the end, the council agreed to grant her a temporary license that expires June 1st of next year with the stipulation that if they receive any complaints, the license will be instantly revoked.
