-The Neillsville Finance Committee has been meeting for the past week to create the 2015 budget for the city.During a Finance Committee Meeting held on October 6th, the committee started out hearing the budget for the Police Department. All-in-all, their budget was mostly in line with last year, but there was a slight increase, in the administration portion of the budget, from 2014's $52,217 compared to 2015's $55,927. The $3,710 increase came from the computer, police training and uniforms and equipment lines of the budget.
The auto, civil defense and dog pound portions of the Police Department Budget did stay the same. That increase of $3,710 was represented in the total non-salary lines of the budget increasing the department's budget from $68,767 in 2014 to $72,477 in 2015.
In presenting the budget, Neillsville Police Chief Scott Klueckmann said that there is nothing frivolous in his budget. He also talked about the implementation of the Body Worn Camera Program. This program is being implemented around the country and it offers the public a view of the interaction between an officer and an individual from the officer's perspective.
Chief Klueckmann plans to write to the Listeman Foundation for additional cameras and he's also trying to restart the Canine Program for the department and the city.
