(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -This year's spike in beef and pork prices are starting to make an impact on the grocery receipts.According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation released its latest Marketbasket Survey on Thursday, which showed that the average price of 16 basic food items in 24 communities totaled $51.97 during the past six months of 2014. That was up $1.93 from the previous survey in April, which now comes out twice annually.
WFBF Communications Coordinator Amy Manske says of the items surveyed, 11 increased in price while five decreased since the spring survey; with sirloin tip roast jumping more than 11 percent since April at $5.39 a pound.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin's marketbasket report rang up less than the American Farm Bureau Federation's national survey of the same 16 food items. That summary totaled $54.26.
Several communities were surveyed include Eau Claire, Marshfield, Medford, Sparta and more.
