-The Medford High School was evacuated early Wednesday afternoon after a bomb threat was reported. The threat was reported around 1:15pm after being discovered on the website Yik Yak by another student. Freshmen and sophomores were sent to the elementary school and juniors and seniors went to the Simek Center.
Authorities investigating the incident discovered that the threat was made on a computer inside the school. They used geo-tracking to discover who was behind the incident and found out a 17-year-old boy made the threat. The 17-year-old admitted to authorities during questioning that he did it.
Police did sweep the building and no bomb was found. The case has been referred to the Taylor County District Attorney for possible charges. This isn?t the first time the Medford School has experienced this kind of threat. A similar incident back in February of 2013 resulted in a 17-year-old girl spending 30 days in jail.
