Monday, September 29th, 2014 -- 11:39 AM
-For the upcoming November 4th elections, the people of Wisconsin will have to show a photo ID to vote.Christina Jensen, Clark County?s Clerk, explained the Voter ID Law.
Christina said, "On September 12th, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated the requirement that most Wisconsin voters present photo ID in order to cast a ballot for the November 2nd, 2014 general election. The Court of Appeals lifted an injunction against the requirement that had previously been issued by Judge Adelman. While there is not a separate "voter ID" card, there are many other forms of photo ID, which you may already have, that can be used to vote."
If you chose to vote by absentee ballot, you must show an ID for that as well.
"A valid photo ID must be provided when voting by absentee ballot unless you are an active military voter, a permanent overseas voter or confidential elector," said Christina. "Indefinitely confined voters and voters that reside in a nursing home are also exempt. They may provide a copy of their photo ID, but may also choose to have their absentee witness verify their identity."
Most forms of ID are acceptable when voting.
