-The Neillsville City Council went over many committee and department reports at their meeting on Tuesday of last week as each department prepares for the city?s 2015 budget. The council heard the Police and Fire Commission report. The main purpose of that meeting held on September 15th, was to fill the Chief of Police position, pay rate range for the Chief of Police, advertising, the Officer in Charge and the pay rate of the Officer in Charge. Most of the meeting was closed session to discuss those matters, but the commission decided to post the Chief of Police position internally for ten days.
The council also heard the Economic Development Commission report. The commission mainly discussed the budget at their September 17th meeting. Their budget did increase slightly from $54,800 in 2014 to $55,300 in 2015. The increase was attributed to an increase in the money spent for the Central Wisconsin Horse Sale which was at $1,500 for 2014 and increased to $2,000 for 2015.
