Neillsville's Homecoming September 29th-October 3rd, Part 3
Monday, September 29th, 2014 -- 8:40 AM
-This week is Homecoming week for the School District of Neillsville.Middle/High School Principal Craig Anderson explained the steps that will be taken if some of the behavior from years past gets out of control during Homecoming.
Mr. Anderson said, "Let me say this, nobody wants to take any opportunities and things away from students. School is about not only the book learning that goes on in school, but there's a lot of social things that go on that makes a huge part of a high school career."
"And nobody wants that more for our kids then the folks that work most closely with them here at school every day. Myself included. But, if we have to do those things, we will. We kinda reserve the right to start small and end big, if you will."
"It would take some pretty extreme actions for us to get to that point. But, if that's what we have to do to, I don't want to say necessarily send a message, but to reinforce the expectations of students that when you're outside of the building, there's still an expectation for your behavior. We have laws that need to be followed and you need to treat others in this community with the respect they deserve."
If you believe that the Neillsville School District and School Board condone some of the behavior that occurs during Homecoming, Mr. Anderson sets the record straight.
"We want students to be involved in as many school sponsored activities as possible," said Mr. Anderson, "and we do not condone them going out after hours, whether you want to call it trespassing or vandalism or littering, but we do want them to be safe, be responsible and be respectful."
Once again Homecoming runs this week and the district has a lot of fun, school sponsored activities planned.
