-A 33-year-old Marshfield woman appeared in Wood County Court on Friday afternoon for allegedly biting her child.According to court records, 33-year-old Amanda Weinfurtner and a 5-year-old child got into an argument about what the child would wear to school back in May. Weinfurtner became upset because the child didn?t want to wear the clothes she had picked out. In her frustration, Weinfurtner admitted that she bit the child on the upper arm, causing the child to cry.
During the preliminary hearing on Friday, the state questioned Officer Christine Giacomino, who responded to the incident. Officer Giacomino said she questioned the child and was told that the child's mother bite her and she cried. The officer witnessed a mark consistent with a bite on the child's arm.
The court found probable cause in the case and the proceedings will continue. Weinfurtner entered a not guilty plea to the charge of child abuse. If convicted, she could face a maximum sentence of 6 years in prison. A $2,000 signature bond has also been set against her.
