Clark County Health Department Offering Flu Clinics, Part 3
Friday, September 26th, 2014 -- 11:05 AM
-The Clark County Health Department is going to be offering flu clinics throughout the county. As I?ve mentioned, adults can get the flu shot at these clinics as well. Brittany Mews of the Clark County Health Department talked about the insurance providers accepted at the clinic as well as the other forms of payment for adults.
Brittany said, "Adults may also receive the flu shot at these special clinics. The health department will bill the following insurance carriers for adults: Medicaid/Badger Care, Security Health Plan, Humana, Advocare, and Medicare Part B. You must present your insurance card at the clinic. If you don't have one of the above insurance carriers, you may pay by cash or check. The cost of the adult flu vaccine will be $30."
Brittany stressed that you cannot get the flu from a flu shot.
"You cannot catch the flu from the flu vaccine," Brittany said. "The flu vaccines that are given by needle are made with viruses that are killed or inactivated. The viruses used to develop a nasal spray flu vaccine are alive, but they're weakened. Immunization is the best preventative measure to protect against illness. To learn more about the flu, the vaccine, and our clinics schedules, please visit the Clark County Health Department's website at www.co.clark.wi.us. Click departments, health department."
Once again those clinics are free for children 18-years of age and younger.
