Security Health Plan Awards $250,000 in Healthy Communities Grants

-Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc. announced eight Healthy Communities Grants totaling $250,000 to address significant community health issues ranging from binge drinking to safe use of prescription medications to health education for young girls.In awarding grants, Security Health Plan focused on important health problems in many communities: children?s health, behavioral health and aging health. In addition, Security Health Plan required all applicants to address health literacy, making health information accessible and easy to understand, as part of their projects.
The 2014 Healthy Community Grants include $50,000 to the Eau Claire City and County Health Department, $30,000 to the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes, $50,000 to Health Literacy Wisconsin, $20,000 to the Marshfield Area United Way, $37,500 to Northland College, $7,300 to Price County Northwoods AODA/Mental Health Coalition, $45,000 to Wisconsin Alliance for Women?s Health and $8,490 to the Central Wisconsin Literacy Council.
