Monday, September 15th, 2014 -- 9:09 AM
-Representative of the 69th district, Bob Kulp, was in Neillsville on Thursday afternoon for a listening session. There were many items talked about with the residents that were in attendance at the event including transportation, the economy, the possible deficit with the next state budget, education and more.
In regards to the economy, Representative Kulp said that, especially in the construction field, there is far more work and jobs than there are workers. This escalated into a much larger conversation on expanding the workforce into the trade areas.
In regards to education, it seems most graduating students are pointed in the direction of a four year college, when a two year college would be more beneficial to them, especially if they?re interested in a career like welding or construction.
Representative Kulp said he is going to work to try and find a way to draw more people to Wisconsin and allow more students to get involved with the trades. He said that Wisconsin does not have a jobs problem, they have a workforce problem.
