Man Injured in Marshfield Apartment Fire Dies

-The man sent to the hospital due to an apartment fire in Marshfield has died.According to authorities, the fire happened at the end of August at 404 West 6th Street. The upstairs apartment was on fire and filled with smoke, but all the occupants were able to escape by the time the fire crews arrived.
The fire was under control within 20 minutes and there was extensive fire, smoke and water damage to the apartments. The damage was estimated at $87,000. The state fire marshall ruled the fire accidental and said that the fire was caused by ?careless use of smoking materials and/or candles.?
Even with all the occupants getting out of the building, a 40-year-old man was seriously hurt and was transferred to the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinic?s Burn Center. He passed away on September 2nd due to his injuries. The 40-year-old was rescued by a 60-year-old man who also went to the hospital for burns, but he has been released.
