DNR's Annual Deer Season Forecast
Saturday, September 6th, 2014 -- 7:18 AM
The DNR is out with its annual deer season forecast and hunters will find different hunting experiences depending on where they go this year. Wildlife biologists say hunters can expect to see deer numbers as good as, or better than, last year in the farmland zones of west central Wisconsin. Deer numbers are expected to similar to last year in the central forest zone, which includes portions of Eau Claire, Clark and Jackson counties, but part of Jackson County will be bucks-only for hunters this year. The deer herd in the northern forest zone was hit hard by a severe winter. The DNR says not only does that mean hunters will see fewer deer, but also that bucks will have smaller racks. Hunters wont be able to take any antlerless deer up north. Wisconsin's bow deer season starts September 13 and gun deer season begins November 22.Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
