-An apartment fire in Marshfield that sent one person to the hospital was ruled accidental by the State Fire Marshall.

According to authorities, the fire happened just before 8pm Tuesday evening at 404 West 6th Street. The upstairs apartment was on fire and filled with smoke, but all the occupants were able to escape by the time the fire crews arrived.

The fire was under control within 20 minutes and there is extensive fire, smoke and water damage to the apartments. The damage is estimated at $87,000. The fire marshall said that the fire was caused by ?careless use of smoking materials and/or candles.?
