-The Sentinel and Rural News celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Owen on Friday afternoon. The Sentinel and Rural News is a new newspaper that started in the City of Owen covering events and news in Owen, Withee, Thorp, Abbotsford, Colby, Meford and more.
On hand to help celebrate the event was Sheila Nyberg of the Clark County Economic Development Corporation, Bryce Luchterhand with Tammy Baldwin?s office, State Senator Terry Moulton and more.
Travis Rogers, the owner, was very happy to see so many people celebrate the opening of the newspaper. Travis and the staff at The Sentinel and Rural News believe in the power of the written word.
Travis said, "We believe in the written word. We believe in the power of words. We believe that words can change minds and open hearts. We believe that words can really change the world, if it'll just speak."
From the very beginning, Travis and his staff decided they wanted to use their paper to talk about what?s right with the world.
"There are so many things that are wrong with the world, but we started in the very beginning saying we want to talk about what's right with our communities," said Travis. "What's right with Clark County. What's right with, even, Taylor County. There are good stories to be told. There are wonderful things that are happening. There are great businesses that have been around for a long time that people don't even know about. There are great people who are working in hard jobs, thankless jobs that get way too much grief and not enough credit. Well, we want to give them credit."
Congratulations to Travis Rogers and the staff of The Sentinel and Rural News.
