Loyal School Board Prepares for the Upcoming School Year

-The Loyal School board approved several items in preparation for the upcoming school year.In employment matters, the board accepted the resignations of the varsity softball coach, the varsity boys? basketball coach, and the food service assistant. The approved the hiring of Bob Lenz as a teacher?s assistant, Jim Haswell as a groundskeeper and Shelby Rueth and Bobbi Moeller as food service assistants.
The board also approved preparing meals for St. Anthony?s School. The district has an agreement in place that will benefit both schools to send lunches over to the Catholic School in Loyal. They approved a pay increase for the maintenance person as well. After the retirement of a maintenance person, the district will promote from within and give a 50 cent raise to one of the custodians to take over that position.
The board also heard an update about the CESA 10 Energy program savings which was over $7,000 last year, they will bid to the banks in Loyal to see who they will use, they decided to submit a letter to the TRG from the Clark County Schools Forum and discussed hiring a boys? basketball coach quickly.
Finally, the board approved the preliminary 2014-15 Budget and Annual Meeting Agenda. They actually approved two budgets: one if the referendum passes, one if it does not. They will certify the appropriate one after the elections in November.
