-A Thorp man entered no contest pleas in Clark County Court on Friday regarding theft and drug charges. The incident started in September of 2013 when property owners on Tieman Avenue in Thorp began to notice the same vehicle driving around the area. It was around this time that the property owners began to notice missing scrap metal around their homes.
Authorities began to investigate 34-year-old Travis Hamm who had been identified by the property owners. During the investigation, authorities also found trash bags filled with items that are commonly used to make methamphetamine. This also led the authorities to Hamm?s girlfriend, 33-year-old Stacy Stewart. Police began to look at the records of local pharmacies and found that Hamm and Stewart were buying excessive amounts of cold medicine, empty bottles and other items related to meth production.
Hamm was found guilty, due to no contest pleas, to 3 of the 7 charges filed against him including theft of moveable property, manufacturing methamphetamine and bail jumping. The remaining charges were dismissed and read in.
Hamm will be sentenced in November. He?s also facing similar charges in Taylor and Chippewa Counties. His accomplice, Stewart, will be sentenced for her part in the crime in October.
