Changes to Entrances at 2014 Clark County Fair, Final
Monday, August 4th, 2014 -- 1:40 PM
-With the Clark County Fair happening this week, those of you that will be attending will notice a slight change as you come to the fair. The main entrance to the fairgrounds off of Highway 10 will be closed to all vehicle traffic, everyone will need to use the south gate to enter, which is off of Rock Road, and the east gate will only be an exit.
Jim Smagacz, of the Clark County Forestry and Parks Department, said the main reason they've made the change this year is because of safety.
Jim said, "For years we've know its been a traffic hazard. There's a lot of congestion right on Highway 10 and sometimes traffic is backed up a ways down Highway 10. The last two springs we've had some major black top damage to the entrance way. Right now, there wasn't money budgeted to fix it, so that's why we changed it to the south. It had been talked about the last couple years ever since the Boon subdivision was put in, but this actually gave us a very good reason and a necessary reason to do it now."
Jim said that things may not run as smoothly as they're hoping for this year, but he asks for your patience.
"I'm sure that this isn't probably going to go 100% smooth," said Jim. "But we'd just like everybody to know coming in, please be patient with us. We're trying to make it work as easily as we can. Around the barns, there isn't going to be a lot of parking; it's mainly going to be loading and unloading areas. We'll sign it the best we can, but, like I said, the biggest thing is that we just ask people to be patient and work with us on it."
The Clark County Fair starts Wednesday and runs through Sunday the 10th.
