Black River Falls School District Looking at $22.5 Million Referendum

-The Black River Falls School District joins a handful of other area school districts looking into a referendum. The district is contemplating a $22.5 million referendum that would pay for a new elementary school and help renovate the high school. The renovations and new building has a lot to do with the ever changing education system and the increased power needs of the district.
There is, of course, opposition as there usually is with all school referendums. Residents in the Black River Falls area would see a $111 tax increase on a $100,000 home each year.
The district failed to pass a referendum in 2009, but they hope by having people more involved and informed with this current initiative, they can pass it this time. However, many people still have more questions they want answered before they can support it.
Black River Falls joins Neillsville and Loyal who are contemplating a referendum on the November ballot. Owen-Withee just passed a referendum this spring.
