Unemployment Increases in Most Wisconsin Cities and Counties

-Unemployment is up in all of Wisconsin's largest cities and most counties.

The state Department of Workforce Development reported Wednesday that unemployment rates in June increased in all of the state's 32 largest cities. Unemployment rates went up in 61 of 72 counties and remained unchanged in the other 11.

Wisconsin's monthly unemployment rate in June was 5.7%, unchanged from May.

Racine once again had the highest unemployment rate of any city at 10.4%, followed by Beloit at 9.5%. Menominee County had the highest rate for any county at 17.8%, followed by Iron County at 11.2%. Dane County had the lowest at 4.2%.

Clark County is slightly above Wisconsin with an unemployment rate of 5.9% for June, a slight increase from May?s 5.7%.

For our neighboring counties, Chippewa is at 5.4%, 5.4% for Eau Claire, 6.7% for Jackson, Wood is at 6.4%, Marathon is at 5.8% and Taylor sits at 5.8%.
