Clark County Board of Supervisors Defeats a Resolution Increasing the County's Minimum Wage

-Besides the controversial communication systems project, there were a few other resolutions discussed at last week?s Board of Supervisors meeting.A resolution requesting a referendum increasing the minimum wage for the county and abolishing state tipped minimum wage on the November 4th elections ballot was defeated with 22 voting no and 5 voting yes.
It was apparent this resolution was dead on arrival as one board member felt it was between the employer and employee regarding their wage. Another thought that minimum wage was a good start for ?first jobs? and a great way to learn the basics before moving up.
Another said that this too would be tossed right into the governor?s garbage had it passed. There was one board member that said she?d like to see what county residents think by having it on the ballot.
Finally, the board approved the values for six tax deeded properties. One was located in Hixton and the rest were in the City of Neillsville. Depending on the size of the lot, they had values set from $1,800 up to $15,000. In line with that, the board also approved lowering values on seven properties. They ranged as low as $1.00 up to $9,500.
