Breaking Down the Hefty Price Tag of Clark County's Communication Systems Project by Quarter
Friday, July 18th, 2014 -- 11:31 AM
-The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved the first steps of the thousand mile journey that is Clark County?s Public Safety Communication Systems Project.Include in the resolution was a chart breaking down the project by quarter doing various pieces of the project at a time in each quarter. John Ross, Emergency Management Director for Clark County, stated that putting in a new Simulcast System, the one they?d ideally like to have, and completing the rest of the project would take at least 3 years to do.
The chart has it broken down, taking at least eight quarters to complete. In the first quarter, around $122,500 worth of work would be done including consultations and installing vehicular repeaters. Quarter two would have $265,000 worth of work done, $110,000 in quarter 3, $1,424,704.80 in quarter 4, quarter 5 would see $585,053, quarter 6 would have $1,092,687.25, quarter 7 would have $739,534.25 and quarter 8 would see $308,766.70.
Keep in mind, these number are not set in stone. These numbers are estimations based off of a study conducted recently by PSC Alliance Inc. However, Mr. Ross said that he did have a lot of confidence in the numbers and would expect the entire project to come to the estimated price, citing that Jackson County?s recent project came within $10,000 of their estimated price tag.
It was also stated that, in some cases, the price could be less than what is projected. For example, a representative from Motorola was on hand to answer questions. He said that if the company quotes them a price of $100,000 and they go over that price because of unforeseen circumstances, the county would only be billed the $100,000. However, he also noted that not every company will do the same thing.
