Clark County Workforce Council's Message is Clear: Clark County Has Jobs, Part 1
Thursday, July 17th, 2014 -- 8:19 AM
-A team of business, education, clergy, workforce and economic development leaders organized under the Clark County Workforce Council have been meeting the past 14 months to create a long term, step-by-step strategy to increase our employee base, grow our companies, communities, residents and school student numbers. Many pieces have been put into play, but the meeting held yesterday at the Loyal City Hall was the official kick off of the entire program.
So, what started it all? It was the extremely urgent need of employees to continue to fuel our existing business growth. The Clark County Economic Development Corporation worked with the workforce resource team and employers in the county to bundle all the jobs available in the county.
As of last fall, Clark County had 256 immediate openings with an additional 165 openings anticipated over the next 6 months. That?s 241 jobs open here in Clark County. If you think those numbers are high, grab any local shopper and turn to the employment section.
It was decided that the group needed to do something fast. The team assembled and work began last September. And the message was: tell all people, anyone who would listen, that we have jobs.
