City of Owen Will have its "Burn-Out" Contest

-The City of Owen will have its ?Burn-out? Contest.Safety issues and other items were brought up about the contest at the city?s last meeting. However, after much discussion, it was deemed the burn-out contest is indeed doable. Bernie Shelton and Lonnie Kroeplin, representing the Fire Dept., mandated that they, the Fire Dept, would have the final call on any safety issues.
Tim Swiggum had the area mapped out as to where the ?burn-out? would take place and a signed letter saying that this was in agreement with the neighbors in question. Having all concerns addressed the council approved proceeding with the Burn-Out contest.
The council also approved the Owen Police Chief to purchase several items he brought before the board.
Finally, the council heard the public works report. Erik Stinson reported on Fair preparations which included sprucing up the City, lines being painted, sweeping the streets, etc. The culverts on Willow were the big issue he brought up. Erik had pictures of how the culverts were caving in. Right now, the city is waiting to hear back from the DNR.
