Greenwood Man's Competency Questioned in Clark County Court in Regards to Sexual Assault Case

Friday, July 11th, 2014 -- 11:39 AM

-A Greenwood man?s competency was questioned during a status conference in Clark County Court in regards to his child sexual assault case.

According to the criminal complaint, in April, 36-year-old Ehrin Scott entered the bedroom of the 14-year-old victim and had intercourse with the individual. Scott apparently lived in the residence with the parents of the victim. When called into the Greenwood Police Department, Scott admitted to an officer that he had sex with the victim and he was placed under arrest.

A report had declared Scott competent to continue with the court proceedings, but his attorney still felt his client was not and requested a further hearing. The court then questioned Scott further and decided the report was accurate and that the court proceedings would continue.

Scott is currently in jail on a $10,000 cash bail and he?s been charged with one count of sexual assault of a child, a felony. If convicted of the maximum amount, he could face 40 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Scott will appear in court again next month.
