Marshfield Clinic to Return $10 Million Grant

-Marshfield Clinic plans to return a $10 million state grant meant to help build a rural dental education facility.The clinic got the grant in 2010 to build the facility in Marshfield. But clinic officials say the grant is no longer needed because the clinic has addressed rural training needs in other ways, including opening 24 training centers in communities rather than in one building, creating a residency for training dentists to be rural practitioners and including training centers in dental facilities in Neillsville, Medford, Rice Lake, Marshfield, Rhinelander and Black River Falls.
Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, a nonprofit health insurance company affiliated with Marshfield Clinic, committed a matching $10 million to the rural dental education facility. Those funds will go back to Security Health Plan.
