Saturday, July 5th, 2014 -- 6:28 AM
-The Owen City Council discussed the price and creation of new liquor licenses at their meeting on Tuesday of last week. There is one Combination Class ?B? liquor license still available for the City. It was decided that this license will be an asset for the business obtaining it and should therefore have a monetary value. A price of $5,000 was approved by the council.
The council then tabled a motion to create a 6 month liquor license application and a motion to not create a new Class A liquor license was approved.
Due to outstanding Personal Property taxes, the liquor license for one business in Owen was granted, but not issued at this time. If taxes are paid by the 30th of June, the license will be issued. If not, a hearing will be held on July 8th. A liquor license was approved for several other Owen businesses.
All the operator?s licenses were approved as well.
