A Special Independence Ceremony Planned At The Highground

A very special Independence Day ceremony will be held on Friday, July 4th at The Highground Veterans Memorial Park in Neillsville. Two highly respected veterans from very different wartime eras will speak at The Highground at 10am.World War II veteran, John Charles George, will speak about his experiences while serving in the 101st Airborne. John fought in many historical military campaigns and battles of WWII including Operation Market Garden and Bastogne (The Battle of the Bulge). He was awarded two Purple Hearts and many commendations during his combat service.
Garth Johnson, Desert Storm veteran, will also speak during the July 4th program. Garth is the commander of VFW Post #305 in Eau Claire, chairperson of ?Wheels of Liberty?, writer and editor of FOG magazine, a veteran?s issues, education and resources magazine that reaches out to veterans, families and the community of supporters of veterans.
This Independence Day ceremony at The Highground will be a notable ceremony that all veterans and supporters of veterans will want to attend.
The ceremony, part of the special 30th Anniversary of The Highground year, brings a unique chance to hear about two very important chapters of our nation?s military history and to honor our veterans of all eras
