Neillsville City Council Approves Sewer Rate Study
Thursday, June 26th, 2014 -- 8:18 AM
-The Neillsville City Council approved the Public Works Department to start a Sewer Rate Study.Due to new requirements limiting the amount of phosphorous that can be discharged, the city?s aging sewer plant and the need to complete several projects to help with the maintaining of the sewer plant, the Public Works Department decided a Sewer Rate Study should be completed. It is something that needs to be done anyway as that was a part of their Comprehensive Plan.
Also, the study would help answer several looming factors the sewer plant and department is facing including the upgrade costs to the plant, the collection system capital improvements and the cost effects of accepting waste haulers.
The study would help the department forecast projects that need to be done and they could budget appropriately for them.
The council approved the department to begin the process of beginning the study during the Public Works portion of the meeting as well as during the regular Common Council meeting.
