President Obama Pushing Minimum Wage Increase
Saturday, June 21st, 2014 -- 9:07 AM
The Obama administration and its congressional allies are stepping up their push for congressional action on a higher minimum wage.Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez teamed up with Rep. George Miller, the top Democrat on the House Education and Workforce Committee, for a lunchtime visit with kitchen workers at a local restaurant to step up their plea for Congress to enact President Barack Obama's legislation to increase the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10.
The increase has been a top second-term political priority for the president and his allies in Congress. But it is stalled in the Republican-led House of Representatives.
