-The Owen City Council approved the Parks and Recreation Committee to move forward with their various projects at their recent meeting. The council approved the committee to spend up to $10,000. The first consideration will be the cost of the new compressor for the walk-in cooler and other kitchen improvements. Overhead doors for the band shell were mentioned, as well as tables, siding and new counter tops.
One council member had been speaking with an Owen resident on the issue of starting up the Crowley Park Ball Diamond. A lot of the material and all of the labor to improve the park will be donated, according to the citizen. He said the clay infield is still intact, just overgrown and the park would be a place for the JV baseball team to practice. It was suggested that they just utilize the Withee Softball Diamond, but concern was voiced that Withee was a softball field, not a baseball field. Concern was expressed that participation is already down, and this could hurt them.
Finally, it was mentioned that parcels of Owen?s land will be on a Sheriff's Sale on July 2nd and anyone interested can contact the Clark County Sheiff?s Department.
