Notes From Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

The Owen-Withee School Board discussed employment matters at their meeting on Monday.The board approved the retirement of the district?s head cook Karen Borek. Karen submitted her resignation with the purpose of retiring effective at the end of summer school. The board unanimously approved her request and thanks her for her many years of service to the district.
The board also approved the hiring of several teachers including Laura Koehler as the Secondary Special Ed. Teacher in the middle/high school, Ryan Gutsch as the Summer Band Program Director, and they approved a list of proposed coaches and advisors for the 2014-15 school year.
Finally the board approved the negotiated agreement with the OWEA for teaches and support staff. At the May meeting, the board authorized District Administrator Bob Houts to meet with the teachers group and support staff and offer them a 1.46% base wage increase for 2014-15, which was the maximum amount allowed under state law this year. The teachers and support staff approved the offer and the board approved the agreement for both.
