Friday, June 13th, 2014 -- 10:17 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board approved a reading of a revised policy and approved a transportation contract at their Monday meeting.

The board had the 1st reading of the revised Use and Possession of Electronic Communication Devices Policy. With the increased prevalence of electronic devices owned by students, the district felt it necessary to update its policy on this matter. Elementary Principal Brain Lewison led a group of teachers who reviewed the policy and rewrote many of its provision. The 2nd reading of the policy will occur at the July meeting when it will become official district policy.

The board also unanimously approved a one year contract with Town and Country Services. The agreement calls for a reduction in bus routes from eight to seven. The annual cost will be $309,250.

Finally, the board decided, in cooperation with the Clark County Health Department, that students at OW high school will participate in the Youth Risk Behavior Survey in the fall of 2014. Student in grades 9 and 11 will take the survey which is completely anonymous. Data from Owen-Withee will be compiled with the other schools in the county to help identify need areas and develop programs and curriculum.
