Owen-Withee School Board Changes Insurance Provider
Thursday, June 12th, 2014 -- 11:26 AM
-The Owen-Withee School Board changed their insurance provider for next year. The district was told by its current health insurance provider, Security Health, that the premium increase for next year would be 15.8%. This would cost the district more than $170,000 which was unacceptable and unaffordable. M3, the insurance consultant that represents the district, got bids from WEA Insurance and WPS. The board elected to change insurance vendors to WEA who had a bid of 4.48% increase for next year.
The board also had the first reading of the 600 Series of Policies. The board reviewed the 600 series of policies, Fiscal Management, as part of its ongoing project to upgrade the District?s policies and policy manual. This first reading is followed by 30 days of review. At the July meeting, the board will do a 2nd reading which will make the policies official.
