Owen City Council Hears Committee Reports at Recent Meeting

-The Owen City Council heard a couple committee reports at their meeting on Tuesday of last week.The Parks and Recreation Committee met on May 13th and discussed Mill Pond Park Improvements, which included an upgraded compressor for the walk-in cooler by Frankewicz on June 1st, more picnic tables, moving the horse shoe pits and more. Also, a Youth Baseball Team is interested in utilizing the baseball field at Crowley Park and Ovyn would contribute to re-do the infield area.
The council also heard the CDA report from CDA Director Tim Swiggum. He reported that Louks has run into a delay with the bank. The Dollar General Agreement has been signed, sent in and breaking ground will occur this fall. The Dollar General will submit their plans to the Council prior to construction. Finally, the DRC Community Garden is plowed but not tilled.
Finally the council approved the mayoral appointment of Art Feldman to the Zoning Board of Appeals as an alternate and the county, as needed, as Health Officer and to remove him from the Tree Committee. The Owen-Withee Area Development Corporation is also sponsoring an Owen-Withee Local Area Map project. Purchasing an ad for $50 will show the location of the Owen City Hall on the map. The council approved for City Hall to run an ad for $50.
