Owen City Council Approves Revisions to Traffic Grant

-The Owen City Council approved revisions to a traffic grant the Owen Police Department is applying for.Owen Police Chief Andrew Schade explained that the cost of the used Marathon County Squad car only came to $2,000 rather than $4,000 which was previously stated. In order to receive the $4,000 grant, the city must match funds spent of $5,000. Those other costs will consist of a new radio, 3 body cameras and LED lights for the future squad car.
Mike Lensmire and Cassie Kurek with Clifton Larson Allen presented to the Council results of City?s 2013 audit. Lensmire reported from two presentation sheets, one of governmental funds and one of the proprietary funds and the council approved the City?s 2013 Financial Statements.
Alderman Tolzmann reported that the walking trail is being maintained nicely including the garbage cans.
Finally, the council approved Officer John Stubbe to attend the 60 hour training for the Gang Resistance Education Assistance Training Program next month. The training grant is funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
