-Charges have been filed against a Withee man accused of mutilating his dog.According to court records, a dog was found on May 15th with a laceration to the right side of its lower jaw. Police believed the dog had been hit by a car so it was taken to the Owen Veterinary Clinic.
**NOTE: (The details of the incident in the remainder of the story are very disturbing.)**
However, as an investigation continued, the authorities learned that the dog belonged to 65-year-old Charles Weissmiller of Withee and that he had intended to kill the dog by skinning it alive. Weissmiller did state that he no longer wanted the animal.
Police searched Weissmiller?s home and found two knives, one of which appeared to have blood and small hairs on it. They also discovered pieces of black fur with flesh still attached in the garbage.
The dog, Sammy, is still alive and needed surgery and antibiotics to treat her injuries.
