Wisconsin Extends State Tax Deadline
Friday, March 19th, 2021 -- 9:03 AM
(Wisconsin Ag Connection) The Wisconsin Department of Revenue is following suit with the Internal Revenue Service in extending the deadline for 2020 tax returns.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, as part of a change announced by the IRS on Wednesday, single individual and married tax filers have until May 17, 2021 to submit their returns.
Wisconsin law provides for an extension of time and waiver of interest and penalties when the IRS extends filing deadlines during a presidentially-declared disaster.
Individuals do not have to file any extension forms to be eligible for this new due date. And interest or penalties that would have accrued during the period of April 15, 2021 to May 17, 2021 would be waived.
The extension does not apply to the 2021 estimated tax payments for individuals or to any other returns or tax payments due to the Department of Revenue.
