Clark County Tourism Committee Meeting, Final

The Clark County Tourism Committee held a meeting at Holland?s Family Cheese in Thorp on Wednesday afternoon.The committee looked at tax data for the county and the state. In 2013, Clark County brought in a total of $1,603,780.50 in sales taxes. That was .52% of the state?s total sales tax for 2013 which was $307,271,522.73. The month with the highest sales tax in 2013 was August with a total of $171,990.68.
The county has increased steadily since 2009 in terms of sales tax. In 2012, Clark County had a total sales tax of $1,532,794.93 with August once again the highest month at $169,091.30. The state had a total sales tax of $297,608,372.79 in 2012 with Clark County?s total at .52% once again.
So far in 2014, things are looking good for the county. Each month of 2014, up to April, broke $100,000 in sales tax.
The final item from the committee?s meeting included a presentation by Steve Peterson about the Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Association and the new Wisconsin Ag Tourism Liability Law.
