Owen Junior Fair Commitee Expressed Concern Over City's Handling of Dollar General Situation

-The Owen Junior Fair Committee expressed concern over the handling of the Dollar General situation.At a Special City Council meeting on Tuesday afternoon, the Fair Board was present to express concerns about the Dollar General and the relocation of the carnival for the Owen Junior Fair event in 2015. Phil Greschner, a member of the committee, reported that the carnival owner is willing to work with the Fair Committee on the new placement of the 2015 carnival.
Other concerns were expressed. One home owner that lives on Madsen expressed her concern in keeping the public off her property.
Several members of the community spoke in favor of the Dollar General. Others voiced concern on how the matter was handled; stating that they, the Fair Committee, wished they would have had more notification.
In the end, the fair approved selling several parcel of city property to Golden Warriors LLC, the company that owns the Dollar General. Two members of the council did vote against the sale, but the motion was still carried.
