Neillsville Man Appears in Clark County Court for Sexual Assault and Incest Charges

-A Neillsville man appeared in Clark County court for sexual assault and incest charges.According to the criminal complaint, a 48-year-old Neillsville man began sexually assaulting a relative in the summer of 2007. The relative was just 12 years old at the time. The victim indicated that the assaults began more frequently after the first incident and continued until the age of 16.
The victim asked the man to tell the Clark County Sheriff?s Department what happened during a phone call on April 16th of this year. The victim had already been asked to come to the Clark County Sheriff?s Department regarding the matter. The abused relative had also spoken with a female friend, of the Neillsville man, who had several children of her own. The victim was concerned the children were being abused.
During the phone call, the abused relative told the abuser that he committed rape and incest. He didn?t deny either claim and eventually told the victim he was sorry for everything.
A $50,000 cash bail was set against the man and he has been charged with four felonies: sexual assault of a child, incest, and two counts of repeated sexual assault of a child. If convicted and sentenced to the maximum amount, he could face 160 years in prison, a $400,000 fine or both.
