-Stressing the importance of offering nutritious meals to children during the summer months, the Neillsville School District has announced their sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program. The Summer Food Service Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, provides nutritious meals to children during the summer, when free and reduced-price school meals are typically unavailable. Children age 18 and younger are eligible for the free meals.
The Neillsville High School will be providing the free meals in the cafeteria and the meals will coincide with the summer school program from June 16th-July 11th. Lunch will be served from 12pm to 1pm Monday through Friday.
This program fills a void created when school lunches are not available. Helping parents meet the nutritional needs of their children is the strength of this program.
