Neillsville Improvment Corporation Takes First Steps with Placemaking
Friday, May 2nd, 2014 -- 10:55 AM
-The Neillsville Improvement Corporation, Clark County?s CNRED Agent and Neillsville residents took the first step in trying to make beneficial changes to the City of Neillsville using Placemaking.Placemaking is a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design and management of Public spaces. The residents present at the meeting were asked to identify nodes, or points of interest, in Neillsville that people want to see. Some of the top nodes identified by the group included WCCN?s Pavilion and Chatty Belle, the gazebo, the jail museum and more.
There were 19 principals that those present were asked to follow when it came to suggesting changes, improvements or what they liked about the city. Some of those principals included integration of housing and employment, pedestrian and bike friendly environments, preservation and integration of historic and cultural resources, connectivity, variety and whimsy, reflection of local values and more.
With the nodes identified, in May the group will visit these nodes and talk about what they like, how they could be improved and what their plans are moving forward. Everyone is welcome to be involved with this project.
