City Property and the CDA Report at the Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council approved to run an ad for bids on some city property at their meeting last week.The property is on Lehnen Street and the ad will be run in the May and June area Shoppers. They also approved to send the offer to purchase city property from Jon and Mable Harms for $1,000/acre for 7.5 acres to the Planning Commission.
The council also approved to submit to the Clark County Economic Development $1,200 for 2014 membership and approved to send City Clerk Terri Ernst and Alderman Pfeffer to a seminar for Labor and Employment Law hosted by Weld, Riley, Prenn and Ricci.
Finally, the council heard the CDA report. CDA Director Tim Swiggum reported he is applying for a grant, which the council approved, which is due May 1st for repairing the railroad burned bridge and continuing the walking trail to Lehnen Street.
He also reported that the closing with Railroad is still in process. The Downtown Community Revitalization Committee is working on the Community Garden with a Planning meeting tentatively set for May 7th. The Dollar General is interested in coming to Owen and the sawmill from Greenwood is interested in the OMI building. Finally, he said nothing has been heard from the party that was interested in the Agribusiness Park.
