Neillsville School Board Approves April Calendar and Operation Plan

The Neillsville School Board approved next month’s operational plan and calendar.
The Board approved the April operational plan and calendar as presented. The Board also approved the CESA contract for 2021-2022 as presented, approved the Early College Credit and Start College Now programs, approved the transportation contract with Granton Area School District for the 2021-2022 school year as presented, and approved the Neillsville Improvement Corporation membership.
The Board also approved the Association for Equity and Funding supplemental dues as presented, approved the donation of 13 refillable water bottles from JBC Screen Printing as presented, approved the donation of a wheelchair requested by Scott Goeppinger as presented, and approved the donation of two books in memory of Marian Ray and Karen Erpenbach from the Black River Falls WEA chapter as presented.
They also approved the donation of a basketball shooting machine from the Neillsville Booster Club, and approved the donation of three ring binders from Marshfield. The board also approved the renewal of a wrestling co-op with Greenwood.
In employment matters, the board approved the resignation of Chelsea Opelt as the middle school track coach position, approved the hiring of Nate McDonald as the weight room supervisor, and approved the hiring of Will Schlinsog as the head golf coach.
The Board heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on attendance; remote learners; student council activities; Monday music mystery; 4-year-old kindergarten registration; and Forward Testing.
Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on attendance; remote learners; character trait of the month; Middle School Week; Women in Stem Career Day; Pi Day; Stop Motion Movie Making Virtual Workshop; Forward Testing; and 2021-2022 course registration.
High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on attendance; 2021-2022 scheduling update; graduating class Laude recognition update; academic letter awards update; athletic and Cloverbelt Conference honors update; Crystal Apple Award winner Randi Stanley; and ACT day update.
Finally, District Administrator John Gaier reported on facility upgrades; Department of Public Instruction waiver approval; the approval of the school safety grant; 2021-2022 proposed summer school offerings; Boardman & Clark lead attorney transition; an article highlighting the tech ed classes’ contribution to the new medical center; a letter from Granton Area School District regarding a boys’ hockey co-op; and the February 2021 Neillsville School District Communicator.
