Special Quilt Honoring Tissue Donors Displayed at Memorial Medical Center
Tuesday, April 29th, 2014 -- 11:33 AM-A special quilt honoring the contributions of tissue donors and their families will be on display at Memorial Medical Center at 216 Sunset Place in Neillsville.
The hospital is sponsoring the April 22nd ? May 7th exhibit as part of the effort to create donation awareness during the national Donate Life Month observance in April.
Themed ?Starlit Memories,? the colorful quilt features squares for 21 tissue donors, whose families consented to donation of their bone, skin, heart valves, veins, ligaments and tendons. Gifts of tissue are used in more than 1 million surgeries routinely performed each year in the United States alone.
If you?re interested in becoming a donor, you can go to the online registry at www.YesIWillWisconsin.com to legally authorize donation. Anyone older than age 15? with a Wisconsin driver?s license or identification card can register. You may also sign up when you apply for or renew your driver?s license or ID.
