-A Thorp man appeared in Clark County Court on Thursday for theft and drug charges. The incident started back in September of 2013 when property owners on Tieman Avenue in Thorp began to notice the same vehicle driving around the area. It was around this time that the property owners began to notice missing scrap metal around their homes.
Authorities began to investigate 33-year-old Travis Hamm who had been identified by the property owners. During the investigation, authorities also found trash bags filled with items that are commonly used to make methamphetamine. This also led the authorities to Hamm?s girlfriend, 33-year-old Stacy Stewart. Police began to look at the records of local pharmacies and found that Hamm and Stewart were buying excessive amounts of cold medicine, empty bottles and other items related to meth production.
Not only has Hamm been charged with theft for the scrap metal, but he?s also had drug charges filed against him as well as bail jumping. Hamm did enter not guilty pleas to all the charges on Thursday and he will appear in court again in May. He is also facing theft charges in Taylor County, after he was photographed by a trail camera taking tools from a cabin north of Medford and he has similar charges filed against him in Chippewa County.
