Loyal School Board Discussed WKCE Test Results
Friday, April 18th, 2014 -- 7:39 AM-The Loyal School board discussed the recent WKCE test results at their meeting Wednesday evening.
Overall, the results were very positive for the Loyal students. Grades 4, 8 and 10 did especially well on all 5 tests.
The board also accepted the resignation of their Ag teacher and FFA adviser Matt Reinders. Mr. Reinders took a position at Edgar, which is a little closer to home for him. The Loyal District is very sad to see him go, but they wish him well.
The board also looked at the long range financial picture for the district. Things look good for the district this year, ok for the next year, but starting with the 2015-16 school year, the district will either have to increase revenue or decrease expenses.
The board also discussed the possibility of sharing a band director with a neighboring school district, but decided there was not enough time to appropriately study the ramifications and scheduling implications. However, they will consider it for the 2015-16 school year.
Finally, the board approved the 3rd reading and final approval of some policies, approved the 1st reading of 3 new policies, gave the oath of office for 3 re-elected board members, tabled the calendar for more thought, approved an out of state field trip and approved the letters of intent for teachers next year.
