-Clark County has joined Wisconsin?s DEC Program.Through joint efforts, local agencies throughout Clark County have organized a county-wide program to respond to the needs of drug endangered children in partnership with Wisconsin?s Drug Endangered Children Program.
The DEC program is designed to assist children who are at particular risk of abuse and neglect due to living in residences where illegal drugs are manufactured, possessed, distributed, or used.
The Clark County DEC program is a multidisciplinary team commonly comprised of members from local law enforcement, community services, social services, prosecutors and more. They work together to enhance their response to the immediate needs of drug-endangered children and to gather adequate evidence to substantiate prosecution of appropriate endangerment and other charges.
The DEC initiative in Wisconsin began in November 2004, when a multidisciplinary focus group met to discuss the national DEC program.
